Cap Jackson

* The MV CAP JACKSON, a fully cellular container vessel, reportedly suffered a fire in the auxiliary engine room on 29th July 2020 whilst preparing to transit the Panama Canal east bound.

* As a result of the fire, the vessel called at the Port of Balboa on the Pacific side of the canal to undertake repairs and where she remains moored as at 5th August. It is not clear at this stage whether the vessel will be able to continue the voyage or whether cargo will need to be transhipped for on-carriage to final destinations.

* It is possible that General Average issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
