SHENG YOU 229

* We have received reports that product tanker, SHENG YOU 229 experienced a fire at Qinzhou anchorage, China on 22 August 2023.

* It is reported that the fire originated in the cargo tanks area and subsequently spread aft to the superstructure of the vessel.

* The fire is understood to have been extinguished later the same day with assistance from various local SAR and Coast Guard vessels.

* It is likely that Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
