VERITY

* It is widely reported that general cargo ship, VERITY was in collision with bulk carrier POLESIE in a position approximately 14 nautical miles southwest of Heligoland Island, Germany on 24 October 2023.

* POLESIE is a bulk carrier with a capacity of up to 49,032 cubic metres of bulk cargo and was en route from Hamburg, Germany to La Coruna, Spain at the time of the collision.

* It is reported that VERITY sank in a depth of water of approximately 30 metres whilst POLESIE sustained only minor damage as a result of the collision and later moved to Cuxhaven, Germany under its own power.

* Two crew members were rescued from the VERITY. Various Search and Rescue vessels and commercial vessels assisted with a search for the wreck of VERITY and any survivors.. Sadly, it has been confirmed that one crew member has died and it is reported that the search for a further four crew members reported to be missing has now been called off.
