FORTE DE SAO FELIPE

* We have received reports that Bulk carrier FORTE DE SAO FELIPE (IMO: 9482263) ran aground whilst navigating the access channel to the Alumar Port Terminal in Sao Marcus Bay, Sao Luis, Brazil on 17 February 2024.

* It is reported that six tugboats were mobilized to re-float the vessel but were ultimately unsuccessful.

* Reportedly, it will be necessary to discharge some cargo on board to lighten the vessel and wait for greater tidal range before the next attempt to refloat the vessel is made. There is yet to be a timetable established for this.

* It is possible that General Average / Salvage / and Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
