Mackinac Bridge

* It is reported that fully cellular container vessel, MACKINAC BRIDGE, ran hard aground off Hong Kong in the early hours of 19 August 2020, whilst on a rotational voyage calling at European and Far Eastern ports.

* A SAR vessel is reported to be in attendance and an inspection of the vessel's hull is to be conducted by divers.

* It is very likely that GA/Salvage and potential Recovery issues will arise as a result of this grounding.

* Salvage Security may be demanded from a source in the UK and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyds and widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* Should General Average be declared, General Average security may also be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are likely to be able to assist that in regard.

* We currently have both cargo and hull surveyors on standby to assess the extent of damages to the vessel and cargo and the possible causes of the grounding, and we may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred.

* We recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
